MENASHA, Wis. – North Shore Bank today announced its thirteenth annual Race for the Hungry event at Menasha Piggly Wiggly, 1151 Midway Road, collected $569.52 in food to be donated to St. Joseph’s Food Program. Race for the Hungry is an annual community event that challenges participants in a head-to-head competition to support local food pantries.

Representatives from St. Joseph’s Food Program teamed up to race through the supermarket aisles to fill the pantry’s wish list. The winner received a $100 gift card and the runner-up received a $50 card. North Shore Bank donated the food collected during the race to the pantry, feeding local families in need. Bank customer and local business Todd’s Painting made an additional donation of $500 at the event.

“We’re proud to work with St. Joseph’s Food Program year-round to support their mission, but this timing for Race for the Hungry is crucial due to the need to re-stock pantries following the holiday rush,” said Kerri Collins, district manager for the bank. “We encourage everyone to join us in donating through our Bank on Kindness website, and in addition to our contributions today, we’re matching each donation on the website.”

For the second year, North Shore Bank is supporting St. Joseph’s Food Program and other local food pantries through its Bank on Kindness give-back program. From now until Feb. 20, the public can donate directly to local food pantries of their choice through the community-focused website or by texting “Kindness” to 77938. North Shore Bank will be matching all donations up to $500 for each non-profit.
