North Shore Bank Chooses Four Milwaukee-area Nonprofits to Receive $20,000 Federal Grant for COVID-19 Relief

BROOKFIELD, Wis. – North Shore Bank today announced it has chosen four Milwaukee-area nonprofits to be the beneficiaries of the community bank’s Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Chicago COVID-19 relief program grant funding. United Community Center, Legacy Redevelopment Corporation, African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin and La Casa de Esperanza each will receive $5,000 to be used to help the nonprofits continue to serve their communities amid the pandemic.

North Shore Bank applied for the FHLB of Chicago grant offered to assist small business and nonprofit partners during the pandemic. The community bank received the maximum amount of funds and was charged with distributing the funds to beneficiaries that need support at this time to continue to make a difference in the community. Legacy Redevelopment Corporation and African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin will use the funds to help cover or provide temporary relief for their small business customers currently borrowing loan funds. United Community Center and La Casa de Esperanza will use funds to assist in the safe operation of their locations to continue to meet the needs of their communities during the pandemic.

“One thing that hasn’t wavered amid the pandemic is our commitment to our nonprofit partners that continue to do good in our communities. We know these recipients will use the grants to best maximize these funds across our community,” said Michael Kellman, senior vice president of consumer lending at North Shore Bank.

In addition to these funds, North Shore Bank plans to sponsor future FHLB grants and is continuously looking for ways to support community partners.
