North Shore Bank and Shorewood Best Buddies Chapter Host Santa Calls Fundraiser

Holiday fundraiser gives local kids the chance to receive a personal call from Santa

BROOKFIELD, Wis. – North Shore Bank and Shorewood High School’s Best Buddies chapter are partnering on a fundraiser that will give local children the chance to receive a personal phone call from Santa this holiday season. The Santa Calls fundraiser runs now through Dec. 13 and proceeds will benefit the Shorewood Best Buddies BIG Trip.
To participate, parents can download a sign up form at Participants should drop off or mail the form and a donation to either North Shore Bank office in Shorewood (3970 N. Oakland Ave. or 4414 N. Oakland Ave.) before Dec. 13. The suggested donation amount is $5 and checks can be made payable to Shorewood High School. Then on Dec. 14, Santa will make personal phone calls to all participating children to talk with them and find out who has been “naughty” or “nice.”

“At North Shore Bank, we are proud to be a member of the communities we serve,” said Dane Didier, branch manager for North Shore Bank’s Shorewood offices. “Best Buddies is a great asset to our community and we are excited to help them, while also helping local children enjoy the magic of the holiday season.”

The North Shore Bank offices in Shorewood are also hosting Festive Fridays on December 6 and December 13. The offices will be collecting Change for the Cause to benefit the Shorewood Best Buddies and serving light refreshments. People will also be able to talk with students who are Best Buddies and teachers from Shorewood High School about the program and their upcoming trip. The Festive Friday fundraisers will be held at both Shorewood offices from 9am to 5pm and benefit the Shorewood Best Buddies BIG Trip.
Since 1995, Best Buddies High Schools has paired students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in one-to-one friendships with high school students. Shorewood High School has 29 members in the Best Buddies program. The chapter’s BIG trip will take place in March in Hawaii where they will experience the natural beauty of Hawaii's Big Island and hike to areas unknown to even many of the locals. The students will explore Volcanoes National Park and hike trails to crater rims, cloud forests and lava flows, and learn about the Hawaiian ecosystem, culture, and history.
