Bank Raises Money to Save Santa Float

North Shore Bank in Menasha hosted a community fundraiser on Saturday, November 25 with free public coin counting and monetary collection to help the Neenah-Menasha Fire Department. The bank pledged to match up to $1,000 of donations collected to help support the fire department’s annual Santa float and Santa visits.

Members of the community stopped by to support the cause by dropping off cash donations. Supporters could also bring in loose change to be counted. They could choose to donate it or receive the dollars in return. The bank tallied the total amount counted throughout the day and matched it in the form of a donation of $1,000 to the Neenah-Menasha Fire Department to help support the needed upgrades to their Santa float. Those who stopped by also were able to see the current Santa Float, meet the firefighters, and check out a fire truck.

The donation of $1,000 supported the Neenah-Menasha Firefighters Union, Local 275, who have a time-honored annual tradition of creating a Santa Float for the residents in the Cities of Neenah and Menasha. Off-duty firefighters from Local 275 volunteer their time every year to make preparations for the float, and four to six firefighters volunteer each night to help Santa make his rounds for all ten nights. The Santa Float is made possible by monetary donations from Local 275.
