North Shore Bank to Host Ninth Annual Race for the Hungry at Appleton Piggly Wiggly

Supermarket race to benefit Apple Valley food pantry

12/22/2017

BROOKFIELD, Wis. – North Shore Bank today announced that it will host its ninth annual Race for the Hungry event at Piggly Wiggly at 520 E. Northland Ave. Race for the Hungry is an annual community event that challenges participants in a head-to-head competition to support local food pantries and win free groceries.

This year’s Piggly Wiggly event will benefit Apple Valley food pantry. Several Girl Scouts from Ferber Elementary School will race through the supermarket aisles in small teams to fill the pantry’s wish list. The winning team will receive a $100 grocery gift card and the runners-up will receive a $50 card. The troops plan to utilize the prize gift cards to help fund additional community service projects. North Shore Bank will donate the food collected during the race to the pantry.

“In the spirit of the holiday season, this annual event gives us the opportunity to help our neighbors in need,” said Heather Starr, branch manager for the bank. “We encourage everyone to get involved, whether by dashing up and down supermarket aisles or by donating non-perishable food items. Together we can help make a family’s holiday season a little brighter.”

The race between the selected teams will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27.  All items collected during the race will feed local families in need.
