North Shore Bank’s 15th Worn Flag Collection will Benefit Honor Flight Veterans

We’re gearing up for our 15th annual bank wide Worn U.S. Flag Collection! Customers and neighbors have come to rely on North Shore Bank as a drop-off site for their tattered American flags, and they trust that we will honorably retire the flags in Veterans Day ceremonies in November.

The collection will run through October 23 and we will donate $1 per flag — up to $1,500 total — to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in SE Wisconsin and Old Glory Honor Flight in NE Wisconsin. These organizations fly local World War II, Korean War, and terminally ill veterans from other conflicts to Washington, D.C., to visit their respective memorials. We will also accept donations from the public.

As part of the flag collection program, the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will display its traveling art show at select SE Wisconsin North Shore Bank branches. Each branch will host an open house with a veteran  and volunteer who can speak to the exhibit for attendees and answer question about the program.

This is the 15th year North Shore Bank has held the collection, which has helped retire thousands of worn flags since it began in 2001. Damaged and worn flags will be collected at all North Shore Bank locations throughout Wisconsin; however, the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Traveling Art Show will only be featured at the below locations:

Once again this year, we will work with the American Legion and Boy Scouts in Brookfield and Green Bay to properly dispose of the flags in a patriotic manner.
