North Shore Bank Celebrates the Arts in Grafton

Week-long celebration includes Plein Air artists and public voting for the bank's art gallery name

GRAFTON – North Shore Bank today announced it will celebrate its Grafton branch’s one-year anniversary with week-long festivities and a celebration of the arts June 1-5 at both Ozaukee County branches. The one-of-a-kind Grafton branch, located at 2301 Wisconsin Ave. across from Sendik's, incorporates a historic stone farmhouse that has stood on the site since 1869.

“For a year now, we’ve strived to preserve our community’s history with our bank’s mission of providing quality service to our customers,” said Dane Didier, Grafton branch manager. “We’re excited to celebrate this great occasion with our neighbors and the general public.”

On Friday, June 4, North Shore Bank will also host “Celebrate the Arts in Grafton,” where the public can enjoy local Plein Air artists at work. Plein Air drawing, sketching and painting is done outside rather than inside, and derives from a French term meaning “in the open air.” The public can enjoy the paintings on display at the Grafton branch from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and get the chance to meet local artists and enjoy a reception that same day from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Local artists’ works will also be on display throughout the month of June.

Throughout the week, customers and the public can cast their ballot to vote for the name of the art gallery inside the Grafton branch. The name options include Gallery 1869, Stonehouse Gallery, Anschuetz Stonehouse Gallery, Fieldstone Gallery, Heinrich Anschuetz Gallery, Lime Kiln Gallery or Old Farmhouse Gallery. The two-story stone home that North Shore Bank now calls home was built in 1869 by Heinrich Anschuetz, whose family opened the Lime Kiln Quarry in the late 1800s. Many buildings in Grafton and Cedarburg were built with stone from the quarry. North Shore Bank uses much of the renovated building for office space, community events, displays, and an art gallery which features the work of local artists.

North Shore Bank, headquartered in Brookfield, is one of the strongest banks in the country. It has assets of nearly $1.9 billion and 43 offices throughout eastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois. Current Wisconsin branch locations are in metro Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Appleton, Menasha, the Green Bay area, Burlington, Union Grove and Door County. North Shore Bank also has two Illinois State Bank offices in McHenry County, Ill. The bank opened its 44th office in Mequon, Wis. in September. Locate a North Shore Bank office.
