North Shore Bank's 'Candy Cane Lane' Branches Announce ‘Change For a Cure'
West Allis area branches to hold change drive to benefit MACC Fund
WEST ALLIS, Wis. - North Shore Bank – the official bank of "Candy Cane Lane" – today announced that its West Allis area will hold a "Change for a Cure" drive through Dec. 28 in conjunction with the neighborhood’s annual holiday fund-raiser. Proceeds will benefit Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc., the MACC Fund.
People can bring their loose change to the Southwest branch at 9131 W. Oklahoma Ave. or the West Allis branch at 10533 W. National Ave. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The bank will put the change through its on-site change counter, match the first $1,000 in donations and present a check for the total to the MACC Fund.
"With our convenient locations just blocks from Candy Cane Lane, our bank has served as the organization’s counting station for more than two decades," said Kevin Zsori, manager of North Shore Bank’s Southwest branch. "We’ve always been proud to support such a special holiday tradition, and with the availability of free coin counting machines at these locations, we wanted to do something extra this year to add to the community celebration. The MACC Fund is a terrific cause, and this is a great way to share the holiday spirit."
In addition to the "Change for a Cure" fund-raiser, North Shore Bank will be sponsoring Candy Cane Lane’s kick-off night on Nov. 27, and the bank’s seagull mascot, Seymour Savings, will be participating in Candy Cane Lane’s Mascot Night on Dec. 11. The bank is also collecting food for the Hunger Task Force now through Dec. 31.
Every December for 24 years, the West Allis neighborhood bounded by Oklahoma and Montana avenues and 92nd to 96th streets is transformed into "Candy Cane Lane," a light-filled winter wonderland to benefit the MACC Fund. People come from all over the Midwest to drive or stroll through the uniquely decorated neighborhood. The event, open from 5 to 10 p.m. through Dec. 27, is free, and visitors may leave a donation if they wish.
"We encourage everyone to make a stop at North Shore Bank’s ‘Candy Cane Lane’ branches as part of their holiday plans to give their change to help ensure that research continues to find a cure for childhood cancer," Zsori said.
