Edgewood Elementary Students Raise $1,000 For Second Harvest Food Bank With Assistance From North Shore Bank

OAK CREEK, Wis. - The Edgewood Garden Association today announced that members of the Edgewood Garden Project, students at Edgewood Elementary School in Oak Creek, raised $1,000 during its annual harvest celebration with assistance from North Shore Bank. The funds will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The elementary students, with assistance from staff members at North Shore Bank's Oak Creek branch, planted and tended to the vegetable garden. The garden was planted in May and the vegetables were harvested throughout the summer and fall. Approximately 120 pounds of vegetables were harvested.

"We are excited to be involved with the Edgewood Garden Project," said Janet Dexter, branch manager for North Shore Bank's Oak Creek branch. "It's a great effort that helps teach children how to garden and the importance of giving back and helping others. The students did a great job with the garden, which produced an ample supply of vegetables for the harvest celebration."

The vegetables from the garden were used to make chili and several other soups that were sold during the annual harvest lunch in late October. Students helped to make some of the soups and local restaurants donated additional soup.

North Shore Bank, headquartered in Brookfield, was founded in 1923. It has assets of $1.9 billion and 43 offices throughout eastern Wisconsin. Current branch locations are in metro Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Appleton, Menasha, the Green Bay area, Burlington, Union Grove, Algoma, Two Rivers and Door County.
