North Shore Bank Joins Exchange Clubs In Honorable Disposal Of FlagsLocal Bank Branches to Serve as American Flag Collection SitesBROOKFIELD, Wis. -- North Shore Bank today announced it will collect worn and tattered flags from Sept. 11 through Veteran's Day, Nov. 11, and work with the Exchange Clubs to honorably dispose of them. Damaged and worn flags will be collected at all 39 North Shore Bank branches throughout eastern Wisconsin. The flags will be properly retired in a Veteran's Day ceremony on November 11. "North Shore Bank is pleased to participate in this effort," said Jude Lengell, Vice President - Branch Administration. "Many people do not know how to dispose of tattered or torn flags, and working with the Exchange Clubs gives us the opportunity to help local residents do so in a responsible and respectful manner." The goal of the Exchange Clubs is to let the public know that flying a torn or soiled flag is disrespectful and that flags should be disposed of properly, with reverence and ceremony. Information on proper flag etiquette will also be available at the collection sites. "Our American flag is a symbol known around the globe as representing courage, strength and unity, and there is not a more appropriate symbol of support for our country," said David Potter, North Shore's Senior Vice President and Exchange Club member. "We encourage local proud Americans to bring their soiled and torn flags to one of our branches for proper disposal." North Shore Bank, headquartered in Brookfield, was founded in 1923. It has assets of $1.6 billion and 38 branches throughout eastern Wisconsin. In addition to the Green Bay area branches, current branches are located in metro Milwaukee, Pewaukee, Racine, Union Grove, Kenosha, Burlington, Algoma, Two Rivers and Door County.   |
