Details Announced For Summerfest's New Stage Area -
"North Shore Bank Landing"
MILWAUKEE, WI - March 24, 2002 - Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., organizers of Summerfest - "The Big Gig," today announced the newest major grounds sponsor for the 2003 festival to be held at Maier Festival Park in downtown Milwaukee from Thursday, June 26 through Sunday, July 6.
North Shore Bank will assume title sponsorship of the new stage area located at the southeast end of the festival site. The North Shore Bank Landing will have a capacity of approximately 5,000-7,000, and the Landing will host an eclectic mix of entertainers with a cross-generational appeal. Headliners will be of national caliber with a mixture of regional and local artists performing throughout the 11-day run of the festival.
Milwaukee World Festival Executive Director Elizabeth "Bo" Black stated, "We are ecstatic that North Shore Bank really came through for the community to sponsor this new stage area. Summerfest is all about the community coming together to celebrate music and diversity. North Shore Bank's sponsorship of this fantastic addition to the grounds only reiterates their dedication to both their customers and the people of Wisconsin who mark their calendars for Summerfest each year." In an effort to maintain music as the core focus of the festival, organizers opted to reprogram the former amusement ride park area. A temporary stage will be erected in the creation of this new major stage area on the grounds. Black went on to say, "Without the generosity of North Shore Bank, the creation of this new area just would not have been possible. Everyone at Summerfest is very appreciative to the team at North Shore Bank for making the Landing a reality."
"North Shore Bank is thrilled to be the sponsor of the new stage area, and excited to be a part of The Big Gig," said Stephen J. Steiner, senior vice president - retail banking for North Shore Bank. "There's no better way to celebrate our commitment to this community than to become part of the community's biggest festival. We hope fest-goers will enjoy what the North Shore Bank Landing has to offer and make it part of their Summerfest experience."
Situated adjacent to the shoreline, performers at the North Shore Bank Landing will not only look out over the enthusiastic crowds at the stage, but will also have a wonderful view of Milwaukee's lakefront and skyline. Five of the 11 national headliners slated for the North Shore Bank Landing have been confirmed, and from the lineup thus far, the Landing is sure to be a major destination for festival goers.
